Confluences
The confluences of rivers had a particularly compelling significance for ancient herders in this region. This is revealed in the frequent placement of khirigsuur at the point at which two streams join or overlooking such a confluence. Concentrations of Bronze Age mounds also appear with some frequency on terraces that offer views over two or more rivers and their confluence.
