Achit Nuur
large lake in northern Uvs aimag.

Alkham Khavtsal
canyon in Ulaan Khus sum where Oigor Gol is joined by Mongol Gol to form Sogoo Gol.

Altai Republic
part of the Russian Federation; borders Bayan Ö lgiy on the northwest.

Baga Turgenii Gol
tributary to Khurgan Nuur from the south.

Baga Oigor
"Small Oigor," tributary to Oigor Gol.

Bayan Ölgiy
aimag in far western Mongolia.

Bor-Bugasny Gol
tributary from the north to Sogoo Gol.

Bor-Burgas Gol
tributary from the west to Khovd Gol above Tsengel.

Bota Moin
"Camel’s Neck," the name of the canyon on the Khovd just below the river’s confluence with Tsagaan Gol.

Bürged
one of the mountains in the Tavan Bogd group.

Chigirtein Gol
flows east out of Chigirtein Nuur into Sagsay Gol.

Chuluut Bulag
stream descending to the north from Öndör Khairkhan Uul; also known as Tsast Bulag.

large lake; see under Basins.

Dund Oigor
tributary to Oigor Gol.

Godon Gol
formed from the confluence of Khar Chuluut Gol and Tsagaan Asgat Gol; tributary to the upper Khovd Gol.

Ikh Turgenii Gol
tributary to Khurgan Nuur from the south.

Ikh Oigor
"Great Oigor," largest tributary to Oigor Gol.

Khar Chuluut Gol
flows from Dayan Nuur to the north.

Khar Salaa
tributary to Tsagaan Gol.

Khar Us Nuur
landlocked lake in Khovd aimag; drains Khovd Gol.

Khar Yamaa
flows southeast from the Mongolian –Russian border; tributary to Oigor Gol.

Khara Nuur
small lake contiguous with Dayan Nuur.

Khara Salagiin Gol
flows east-southeast from the Mongolian–Chinese border; tributary to Khoton Nuur.

Khara Zharyk
name of a terrace above the left bank of Tsagaan Asgat Gol.

Khargantyn Gol
tributary to Khovd Gol, entering that river from the east just above Tsengel.

Khatugiin Gol
(1) tributary to Sogoo Gol from the west; (2) tributary to Tsagaan Gol from the southwest.

Khöltsöötiin Gol
flows from the eastern flanks of Tsengel Khairkhan Nuuru east into Sagsay Gol.

Khovd Gol
largest river in Bayan Ölgiy; see under Basins.

Khuiten
highest mountain in the Tavan Bogd group, rising 4374 m.

terrace along the right bank of Godon Gol before that river’s confluence with Khovd Gol.

Modon Salaa
tributary to Khargantyn Gol, entering from the east.

Mogoityn Gol
tributary to the upper Khovd Gol, entering from the west.

one of the mountains in the Tavan Bogd group.

Naran
one of the mountains in the Tavan Bogd group.

Oigor Gol

Ölgiy
(1) one of the mountains in the Tavan Bogd group; (2) principle city of Bayan Ölgiy aimag.

Öndör Khairkhan Uul
a sacred mountain, 3914 m, on the border between Mongolia and China.

Postigiin Gol
flows southeast from the border area south of Tavan Bogd.

Rashaan Gol
flows south from Rashaany Ikh Uul; joins Postigiin Gol to form Tsagaan Us.

Rashaany Ikh Uul
high mountain, 3668 m, dividing the Tsagaan Gol drainage from that of Khoton Nuur.

Sagsay Nuur
small lake contiguous with Dayan Nuur.

Sagsay
(1) name of a sum in Bayan Ölgiy; (2) administrative center of Sagsay sum located on the left bank of Khovd Gol.

Shetya Oigor
tributary to Oigor Gol.

Shiveet Khairkhan Uul
sacred mountain in the upper Tsagaan Gol basin.

Taldagiin Ikh Uul
mountain rising south of Ikh Oigor.

"Five Masters," a grouping of high peaks marking the border of Mongolia, Russia, and China.

Tsagaan Asgat
(1) Tsagaan Asgat Gol; flows from the southern flanks of Tsengel Khairkhan Nuuru west to join Khar Chuluut Gol; (2) the name of a plain on the right bank of Tsagaan Asgat Gol.

Tsagaan Asgatyn Öndör Uul
mountain, 3430 m, northeast of Dayan Nuur.

mountain ridge in central Bayan Ölgiy.

sacred mountain, 3943 m, in Tsengel sum.

Turgen Gol
tributary to the upper Sagsay Gol.
